A lot of people assume that proper Greenland technique means keeping the whole paddle low and using a very low angle stroke. I have found that a more vertical stroke is usually more efficient with a GP. The GP is a versatile tool that works well with a variety of strokes. A GP can work with a wider kayak, you just need to use a more vertical stroke, than is needed on a low narrow kayak. Take a look at some of the videos in the link below, you will see some variation in the techniques.
