Kurt has done a fair amount of fishing from kayaks, and his Cormorant does not have the initial stability of a Chesapeake. I have done some freshwater fishing from my CH-18, though not fly fishing, never quite got the hang of of a fly rod. If you're playing in surf, I'd imagine it would be a handful trying to brace and work a fly rod simultaneously, but if you're already fishing from a plastic rec boat...
