Really - the hatch size is really OK. I've been stowing sleeping bag, food bag and cookset in the front hatch with no problems for the past 5 years. (I've got an MSR tent too - MSR rocks!) It's just that now, I'd like to start using bear canisters - that's the only reason I got into this.

I've done some "exploratory" measuring and I think this can be done - I just need a larger hatch opening. I'm going for it.
