Re: Glassing Hatches

whether you glass or not it's worth applying three or four THIN coats of 'poxy around the edges of hatches and coaming since that's where dinged ply will allow water to enter the end grain and it's too easy to sand through one or two sealing coats before varnishing. It's worth doing for anyone who plans on doing rescues regularly as the coaming get's a fair amount of abuse when one hull is dragged over ones lap with all the sharp corners and keel edges sliding/hitting right on the coaming at your waist. A nylon skirt won't provide much protection compared to a neoprene one.
