Thanks Chris. I tapered the rubrails and taped off the hull prior to painting to give the epoxy a bonding surface. The boat's more of a decked canoe. Very "Mill Creek" like and looks good with them. Would look good without them too but now that their spot is unpainted I'll stick to the plan. They're mahogany and very narrow, just for looks, and I'd be very surprised if they weighed .5 lbs.
