Fiberglassing Pram

Why is is recommended to glass only the bottom panel of the Eastport Pram's exterior? I will be using mine as a full time working dinghy while liveaboard cruising, and was thinking I'd like to continue the glass up over the #1 strakes. I assume the only problem would be to make sure the glass can lay flat against the transition?
