Here's a closer view of the installation of the edges and tip... the shaft is doug fir, the edges and tip are ash, and the pegs are walnut. I decided that since I was going to want pegs in the mortise and tenon for the tip, I might as well make them visually appealing and contrast them with the surrounding wood.
