The gooseneck on the Eastport Pram won't come loose under sail. All of the loads are towards the mast, and the downhaul will help hold it there, too. I've never seen the gooseneck come loose underway.

Page 22 and 25 in the instruction manual (23 and 25 in older revisions) have good photos and drawings of the boom, gooseneck, and downhaul in action.
