Imprinting

Epoxy as it cures imprints i.e. flows telegraphing the weave of the fabric onto the surface of the epoxy. Sanding the epoxy and applying the varnish too early will expose that perfect newly finished kayak to imprinting. All it takes is one afternoon in the hot sun. So do not even sand that last fill coat and go paddling for a few weeks. Then wash, sand and varnish but beware you may have to build a second boat to varnish the first.
