I used a bit of carbon fiber at the stems of my canoe and under the mast step. A mistake (?), I guess I'll find out eventually. Some of the strands of carbon fiber that "strayed" were pulled and laid over a saw horse to keep them off the floor and out of the way. One had been cut on a bias and was as sharp as a needle. When pushed it penetrated 1/4" to 3/8" into a block of parafin. Another piece had a curve to it, very spring like, up to the point where it shattered. How it behaves when backed by thin plywood and fiberglass, I dunno. RogerJ
