Great Loon report, Mac.

We have them in front of the Nova Scotia house. I've paddled all around the harbor and up the two feeder rivers and can't locate the nests. Hopefuly, the hawks, eagles, crows and seals can't either.

Funny how they'll disappear for a few days then return, sometimes with more loons than when they left. Someone over in Maine a few years ago told us they're very social and will often fly off to visit other loons on nearby lakes and bays.

Damn pretty bird, when you get a good look with the binoculars.

Our best wishes to the loon family for a summer devoid of heartbreak.

We're off to Canada from Newark airport early tomorrow. Hope the loons are waiting for us.
