STRIP/GLASS

Posted by RogerJ on Jun 21, 2005

There seems to be at least two schools of thought with regards to application of fiberglass clothover wood strips (as in kayak/canoe or hybrid deck). One source says to "seal" the strips with epoxy then when cured sand and apply glass cloth and more epoxy. The other calls for putting the cloth over bare wood then adding the epoxy, with care to insure the glass is not starved of resin due to the wood absorbing it. Notes also that different areas may absorb at different rates, be carefull not to float the fabric.

Strippers or hybrid builders comments on what worked best for them would be welcome. RogerJ
