It will get beat during use so don't bother unless you want to take it to a boat show first. Also some of the classic boat guys (who really do polish) tell me they worry about taking the skin off the finish by polishing. If you have craters and pock marks then wet sand and do a few more coats. My feeling is that wet sanding and about 6 or more coats over epoxy gives a really nice finish.
