What method are you using to apply the paint? If you are using the foam roller and tip method, watch the bubbles in the paint before you tip it off. They are a good indication of coverage. if you get good coverage with the bubbles, you should get a uniform coat without holidays. Yellow could take as many as six coats depending on if you primed or not. Just think of the first five coats as practice for the final coat. overhead lighting is probably the worst for painting. If you ever look into an automotive paint booth, you'll notice they are side-lit as well as overhead.
