Pete,

I've just returned from browsing CLC's "Shop Tips" on this site, and am impressed with the number of detailed articles John Harris and the crew have assembled and continue to update. Definitely worth a read - lots of stuff on fiberglassing, epoxying and so on.

I also found the Zen tape/DVD very helpful when I was starting out - entertaining and gave me a major shot of confidence in an area where I was a total novice. Beg, borrow or steal a copy - heck - spring for one - make John (the Star) happy.
