Oxford shell building

I have been wanting to build an Oxford shell for some time, and I am finally in a place where I can manage it. Is there anyone who has built one who can give me some planning tips? I am curious about how much time I should plan for the entire project, and if this is a manageable project for my first boat. Also, I am in central New Jersey and was thinking about starting work in August, but wondering if it would be better to wait until the fall when things cool off? Thanks for your suggestions.
