Questioon for John H

Well John Harris and whome ever else wishes to answer...

Ive got the Sailrig MKII in the works downstairs in the basement. Im building the rudder they recommend in the plans as opposed to say a double rudder or the like. Thing is, I want to make it a balanced rudder so I dont have to fight it continually.

Am I overthinking this or is a balanced rudder the way to go here? If so how would you change the profile of the rudder in the plans to one of the balanced type?

My idea [should I go with it] is to make the bottom portion of the rudder come forward and extend UNDER the kayak a bit, say six inches. John, is this too weird or what? Im tring to even the balance on either side of the rudder axis.

Thanks in advance!!

Pete
