motor for Jimmy Skiff?

I built a Jimmy skiff a year or so ago. While I love rowing it, there are days when the wind and tide make it hard to get where I might want to go.

The sail option is an obvious alternative, but until I am ready to undertake that I was thinking of putting a small electric motor on the transom.

Any suggestions on whether this is feasible? I know I would have to beef up the transom to do so, but i'm wondering what size electric I would need to push it against a swift tide. The motors are usually rated in punds of thrust. Any suggestions on make, model or specs such as thrust?

Of course, I'll be using it in salt water.
