This is exactly why waxed paper shouldn't be used (see my previous rants). The heat from the exothermic reaction melts the wax, which then either mixes into the epoxy or is displaced from the paper by epoxy or both. You end up with contaminated epoxy, stuck paper or both. Next time use packing tape or polyethylene dropcloth. End of sympathetic rant.

If it was my project, I'd sand off the epoxy under and near the paper and re-apply a clean coat.
