Matt,
Why use dynel at all? I've seen it worn away by the sharp granite of Maine. Kinda ugly stuff, to boot.
I've been using 3/8" brass half oval for the last four years or so and it holds up extremely well to the hard rocks of Maine and Canada, looks good, and is easy to install, even after the boat is painted or varnished.
If you like, I can e-mail sources and directions.
Dynel? Sounds like a country & western singer.
