Waterproofing Spray

Posted by Mac on May 24, 2005

Hello Everyone.

I've returned from 3 solid days of wind and rain at the cottage.

Stubborn as I am, I still paddled 2 if not 3 times each day and covered the cockpit with a nylon Beluga (Quebec company) cockpit cover when ashore. My sprayskirt is also a nylon Beluga.

While these two covers fit very nicely, they do let pooled water drip through over time. (MOST annoying where it drips through the sprayskirt).

I was at our local Canadian Tire, and in their camping section they have a silicon-based waterproofing spray for nylon tents (and another version for canvas). I purchased the for-Nylon version, but thought I'd ask here for opinions BEFORE I leap ahead and do something silly. (See? After 2 yrs with you folk, I'm finally planning vs postmorteming.)

So, vaddayatink? Any Do's - Don'ts - Horror Stories? (Should I actually read the "instructions"? - (Real men don't need no steenking instructions.......) (nor do red- headed ladies or garagegirls)

Thank's

Mac
