Don't worry Kyle, my intention is not to experiment much at this stage of my boatbuilding practice. On the other hand I wouldn't be able to leave out deckbeam since I have front bulkhead glued in place that would prevent any actions on deckbeam after gluing the deck. You see, I'm building rowing shell, not a kayak.

Perhaps for my next project I might consider a very narrow and light shell on which I might leave out some of the parts. I know for example that there are shells with practically no deck other than a piece of dacron cloth nailed down to sheer clamps. Those are not built for being capsized. But not this one. This should be able to withstand much harder use than an ordinary racing shell.
