I guess I was lucky. I did it with the cardboard and clear packing tape. Worked well.
I had cut and trimmed the cardboard pieces to fit very snug. I then tape them in place. Boat remained horizontal. Later filed and sanded smooth.
Oh yeah... wood flour to slightly thicker than grey poo-pon.
Yes this was one of the steps that went without a hitch.

Two coats to go on coaming and hatches, and its off to sanding!
