Nice looking little boat you built for the girls. All I've built is kayaks so I don't know which of the above would fit your needs best. The guys at CLC probably have some good advice. The one thing I will tell you is DO NOT be afraid of scarf joints. A good low angle block plane and some patience are all that's required. Get some 1/4" ply from your local lumber yard to practice on. If you buy a kit it's even easier! A string and a few clamps to make sure the pieces don't move while glueing is all that's needed. (Okay, so I've simplified it a bit, but my point is you can do it!)
