foot brace

Posted by Brett on May 8, 2005

Howdy all, quick question for you all. I have purchased yakima foot braces for the front of my CLC double and necky for the back. Both come with little foam rings that go between the wood and the rail. I find when I mount with these foamy bits the pedals have a little bit of movement - its hard to get a nice solid foot brace without cranking the screw so tight that I worry about damaging the hull. I image it also causes stress on the hole by lettting the screw move a little in the hole. Has anybody just done away with the foam bits and mounted flush with the wood - have there been any adverse effects?

Thanks Brett Vancouver, Canada.
