Frank P - Thanks for your post. I fully understand the cost factor; I have never been involved in a SAR. The USCG were told by numerous knowledgable locals that they were searching in the wrong area. After the 'Offical' search was called off, hundreds of civilians came forward to continue the search on land, sea and air. Here is an article in today's Charleston Post & Courier detailing the extent of the civilian search.
