Patrick,

One other thing to consider about the hatch kit is you end up having to drill six holes through your hull (or at least into it if you opt for wood screws instead of the machine screws that are supplied) for the tabs for each hatch cover. I did not relish the thought of that and decided to go with internal bungies instead. I did use the spacers and sills from the kit, though. I don't have anything to compare it too since it is my first and only kayak (so far), but my WR18 stays pretty dry in there.
