Re: Deck Install

Forget about the carlins. You are departing from the original design, so relax, and see where it takes you!

On my boats, the carlins were way under the deck, as you now understand thoroughly, so I just ignored 'em. After the boats were finished I was tempted to cut 'em out where they only reinforced the thin air around 'em, but ended up leaving them be. I'm glad I did, to; they turn out to be TWO mighty useful items: one, a "handle" with which to tote the boat, especially since the CG lies foward of the cockpit opening (in my case), and second, they're a grand place to stuff my fishing pliers and stringer into for super convenient stowage. I *love* those erstwhile useless carlins!

I guess I need to add this little tidbit to my webpage, ayah? (YES, you lousy sackashit!!!!, you now say.)

Cheers! Kurt
