A Simple Decision

The end pour is easier to do, the tape ain't. But the end pour is heavier; the tape ain't. You want a light weight kayak in the end, but you also want to have fun building, and get your boat in the water sometime soon. So which trail do you prefer to hike?

But for my money, Laszlo's third alternative hits the nail on the head. It is certainly what I would do without an instant's hesitation. Cutting and shaping a piece of scrap pine, or whatever you happen to scrounge up, ought to be a simple matter. Think of it as great block plane practice before you get to your sheer clamps!

Cheers, Kurt
