Proven to Work.
Posted by Howard on Mar 24, 2005
I don't mean this as a silly question, but how is a particular kayak design and construction schedule lay-up "proven" to work?
Is there some objective engineering approach/ nautical design guideline?
Are there particular stress tests that you take a new design through?
Or is it based on how many boats have been put out there and the anecdotal feedback of builders?
It would be cool if there was some "incident" log that folks could reference that documented cases of failure of any part of a kayak and that documented the conditions and circumstances around those failures. Does CLC keep such a log that they could share?
