I second Lee's remarks and summarize by observing that the Sassafras 16 is simply a fairly small 16-footer. The relatively narrow waterline of the Sassafras 16 makes it very easily driven; a few strokes and you just glide. The difference in speed and handling compared to wider, more prosaic designs is striking, but it doesn't have the huge capacity of some canoes. Plenty of space for a picnic basket, cooler, and a wet dog, though....
