Lateen Sails

Hi all I would like to try a "Lateen sail" on my Millcreek 16.5, I'm using a Gaff sail at the moment, but would like to increase sail area by using a Lateen sail, what area could I expect to get away with, the Millcreek 16.5 weighs 38 kgs a bit heavy but OK for sailing.
