The point that caught my eye on Mr. Forrester's original post was the question about adhesion from 'glass to wood. I aksed a similar question awhile back and got multiple sets of responses. The concept gleaned out of it though was this. If you've already hit the bare wood of the hull or deck with 220grit, you may already be at the point where going any further would inhibit adhesion. Later coats, once you already have epoxy on the surface you can go to finer grits.

Mr. Forrester, heed the comments about carbide scrapers well. They will save a lot of work! Knocking down strictly the high spots with the scraper also helps reduce the chance of mental pain and anguish from using the ROS too much on a high spot, only to realize that you accidentally exposed 'glass next to it on the part that should have been level.
