Since you will be car topping your yaks locally in Seattle, I would think that the cross country drive would just be a multiple of your local drives. We haul our MC 16.5 on either a Roo SW or a Jeep wagon (both old) and used the stock racks for a couple of years. Fine in high winds, Interstate, mountain roads, gravel roads, etc. However, last year I bought Yakima racks and saddles for the Jeep and won't go back to the stock racks. Rock solid. Either Yakima or Thule should work fine on your Roo. Have a safe trip. Dave
