Thanks one and all for the input. My only issue here is the utopian ideal of a "dust free" workplace. I've managed to smooth my application technique, but, It's winter, I live in New England, and I have forced hot air heating. There's next to nothing I can do to prevent some level of dust entering the atmosphere around the boat. All I'm interested in doing is knocking down any irregularities on the final coat, without killing the sheen. I may try something way up on the grit numbers, followed by some kind of compound. Heck, if I'm not happy with it, I can always add one more coat.
