I'm not sure 10 or 25% is critical. Since so many coats are needed (2 minimum, 4+better) I would experiment. I look for thin enough not to sag, and thick enough so that covered areas look fully covered. Sagging had been my bane, and depended on the ambient temperature, humidity, how thick the varnish is (ie thicker toward the bottom of the can). GWalter
