The short answer is: split the difference in the "overhang" of the bilge panel where it meets the bottom panel, so that the same amount extends past the bottom panel at either end.

The MC 16.5 panels have always been that way; it forms fine ends for easy driving and straight tracking. The question does come up from time to time and I'd like to program the CNC-machine to cut a "detente" in the bilge panel at either end that auto-locates the bilge panel on the bottom panel. Tricky bit of programming.
