The pygmy back band is the same thing Necky was doing 15yrs ago, a piece of minicell covered plastic. Get a back band. Carve a seat. Sit up while paddling. The problem with fixed seat backs like yours or the hinged seat back attached to the seat is that they don't pivot/move around while you do although they make fine chairs.
