I agree with the responses offered up so far. As for me, I have built a hybrid 16-footer (S&G hull/cedar stripped deck) that came in, fully rigged, at 35 lbs. My newest boat, a full strip-built 17-footer, weighs 35.5 lbs without its deck rigging (which I shall add today); I expect to come in at 36 lbs. I just cannot see a fiberglass boat of the same dimensions coming anywhere near those numbers. Half again as much, and the very least.
