minicell seat coverings

With regards to finishing the seat folks like www.kayakfit.com recommend gluing on a stretchy fabric cover. That's the kind of cover you'll find on the minicell seats that are standard in Necky kayaks. The Arctic Hawk kit recommends painted on rubber dip, the kind you get in the hardware store for coating hard handles with a rubber coating. All the minicell seats I've made start getting nicks and gouges after a couple years use,,and if the cat likes it as a scratching pad it's gone. So after carving a seat for an Elaho HV I coated it with rubber dip,,and probably added 4oz to the seat,, it made a very durable covering that wouldn't get torn up when stepped into.
