The Annapolis Wherry's vertical tank faces are too low for the Beckson plates. (Other boats with similar interior tanks, the Skerry and so on, have a Beckson plate option.) A few people have put the inspection ports in the horizontal plane on the Annapolis Wherry and that works great, if you don't mind the looks.
A drainplug alone isn't ideal for airing out the tanks, but it's better than nothing and will in fact allow a damp tank to dry out over the course of a four-month winter storage.
And of course, in a perfect world, no moisture ever enters the sealed tanks, but nothing is ever perfect...
