Please don't give me more credit than I deserve. I've just found ways to make me look better at this than I really am. The compass rose is an overlay with very thin veneer. The graphics are printed on a normal computer onto 'LaserTran' (or is it LazerTran'?). It's paper that, after printing, acts just like the decals that come in plastic models. Just cut out your graphic, soak it a bit in water, and the graphic slides off with very thin, nearly transparent film. Easy.
