How I painted my boat
Posted by Robert N Pruden on Jan 19, 2005
I wanted to paint mine, too but I also wanted the wood to show through. The link shows you what I did using Rustoleum (Tremclad, in Canada) and a few rolls of electrical tape. You never paint the wood before you glass. If you want to color the wood before glassing then you use an alcohol-based wood dye. If you use anything else under the glass, the epoxy won't stick properly.
Welcome to the club. You can always paint over top of your errors but try to let some of the wood show, it is really very beautiful to see.
