Curious - why remove?
Posted by Rick on Jan 12, 2005
the beam - seems it is critical for strengthening the deck and for lifting the yak. I grab mine all the time to move the boat a few feet by myself. Also, isolation of small flexions of the deck by the beam would seem to prevent stress cracks.
What would be the advantage of removing the beam? Seems weight savings would be relatively small.
