Bill, have you looked at CLC's selection chart? Which smaller lakes are you looking at? The Finger Lakes, some of my favorites. That's where I grew up, then 10 years in Rochester, so I know the lakes well.

Like Mac, I think the 17 would be fine. Anyway, here's the link to the chart.
