I'm 6'-2" 185 pound and paddle a standard Ches 17 usually cargoless. I paddle open ocean and do light surfing and rock gardening in it. It is plenty of boat if I were to change anything I would have a kayk that is a little more stramline and more nimble (less tracking). As a oceanliner packed with gear it is fine. Maybe it is time to make a play boat.
