Larry, You didn't say what you're using to sand. I think I initially used the random orbital with 100, then switched to 220 grit. I hand sanded using sanding blocks along the edges like CLC recommends. The primer coat can look bad as Mac said and it's ok. Low spots will be filled with pre-kote and the high spots can show wood underneath, but it could also look all white and that's ok too.
