In my experience with 2 part poly primer, I found that the initial coat left the hull looking like it had been painted white. Under heavy sanding and fairing, high spots of wood became evident, leaving the primer to fill the valleys. Looked terrible. But I think that's what primer is supposed to do - fair the surface, as much as provide a base for the final paint to adhere to. We really don't need primer for paint to stick to epoxy, but a good (non high build) primer helps to provide a final chance to hide small imperfections in the surface.

If, after sanding, your hull still looks like it was painted white, you've put on a lot, and maybe haven't sanded off enough. Please use flat sanding boards at least 11" long to "fair" the surface.

I hope I understood your question, Larry, and happy finishing. What colour are you going to use?
