I would glass the deck with 4 oz cloth and never look back.

As for the Rolls Royce of seats, for my money it's carved minicell. I used a 24" x 24" 3" thick chunk from CLC for the cockpit in the photo below, my Cormorant 16 hybrid.

I use this boat for fishing, as well as near-daily paddling, and can tell you unequivocally that this arrangement is good for all-day comfort. I've never even seen a Creature Comfort seat, let alone tried one.

I'm using the full suspension, articulating back band as described in Nick Schade's "The Strip-Built Sea Kayak", modified to wrap around. Nick's is flat.
