Re: South Florida weather

Fred, I live in extreme NW fla, Pensacola, and it gets hot & humid here as well( the wind also blows a bit at times, hang on to your roof).I also lived in Sarasota for 3 years so I am familiar with the weather down there. I own 3 CLC boats, just finishing up a Sassafras 12, and the heat & humidity is not a problem. Store your boat out of the sun, maintain it and you won't have a problem. Try to build it during the winter months while it's a little cooler down there. Remember woodenboats have been in use for a few thousand years in all kinds of climates and they're still making them. Aluminum & fiberglas & plastic are the new kids on the block. If any of those materials lasts 2K years then you'll know it's safe to build a boat out of any of them. If you want to buy a plastic boat just do it. However I promise you buying the boat won't mean a thing to you in a few months. If you build a boat it's an experience you'll remember for the rest of your life and that's a promise.
